My Story

Carolina's case is one that we will never tire of telling. We rescued her on 29/08/2025. She was very, very thin and had no mobility in her back legs. Everything pointed to her having been hit by a car. We took her directly to a veterinary clinic, and there they told us that she had a broken hip for a long time. The plan was clear: immobilization for two weeks and to observe her progress. Carolina spent more than a week in a cage, but we saw no improvement. Something didn’t add up… so we took her back. During that second check-up came the hardest blow: in addition to her hip, she also had a broken spine. From that point on, a very complicated phase began. She struggled to eat kibble, we couldn’t get her to gain weight, and worst of all, she couldn’t control her urination. We had to help her empty her bladder, and there came a point where we had to put her in a diaper. The prognosis was very poor, and there was a moment when, thinking about the quality of life she would have, we considered the most painful option: to put her to sleep... But before that, we were clear about one thing: we would exhaust all possibilities. And then a small light appeared. By chance —or by fate— we met a girl who had experienced something similar with her cat and told us about acupuncture. And that’s where Carolina’s true journey began. We started taking her for sessions twice a week, and we did daily exercises. She not only had to “learn to walk again,” but she also had to regain strength: she had lost all her muscle mass. And the incredible thing is that from the very first session, we saw signs of improvement. In just two months, Carolina went from being unable to walk… to moving on her own. She started using the litter box again, regained her independence, and we were able to take away her diaper. A change that we can only describe as a miracle. Carolina today is a different cat. Every day, her personality shines more: she follows you everywhere, she loves food, she is sweet, and she enjoys cuddling up next to you… In her foster home, they have also discovered that Carolina is deaf. In just a few months, her story has taken a huge turn… but we want the complete turnaround: a family. Because Carolina didn’t just survive. Carolina was reborn.
